So there is this thing with umbrellas up here...they have very short lifespans. Maybe its the specific wind currents created by all the skyscrapers...maybe its just the weather in this part of the country and the umbrella death rate only seems so much higher here because of the concentration of people...but anyways....they don't survive long. Take any given rainy day in New York...walk 2 blocks..any block and you will see at least 1 dead umbrella...1 dead umbrella for every 2 blocks...how many blocks are there in NY? The other day (it was raining) I got off the subway, climbed the stairs, was about to step out onto the sidewalk, looked up to see this guy pull out his fancy automatic umbrella and push the button and the umbrella shoots out and keeps going- it shot of the pole and across the street.

I just wear a rain jacket. I'm not coordinated enough to use umbrellas anyways.
It is freakin cold up here. NY.
