So there is this thing with umbrellas up here...they have very short lifespans. Maybe its the specific wind currents created by all the skyscrapers...maybe its just the weather in this part of the country and the umbrella death rate only seems so much higher here because of the concentration of people...but anyways....they don't survive long. Take any given rainy day in New York...walk 2 blocks..any block and you will see at least 1 dead umbrella...1 dead umbrella for every 2 blocks...how many blocks are there in NY? The other day (it was raining) I got off the subway, climbed the stairs, was about to step out onto the sidewalk, looked up to see this guy pull out his fancy automatic umbrella and push the button and the umbrella shoots out and keeps going- it shot of the pole and across the street.

I just wear a rain jacket. I'm not coordinated enough to use umbrellas anyways.
It is freakin cold up here. NY.

Fish Eat Figs

Seriously. I just saw the "Freshwater" Planet Earth, one of the few I haven't seen. There are these fish in the Amazon that eat figs as they fall into the water from overhanging trees. Craziness. My cat has been trying to eat my moms mini Palm. Nd by trying I mean he has been eating it. She had to put it up on one of the few shelves he can't get to. yet.
